“Reading is important to me because of the way it gets your imagination going.”
Brian McCarthy, Drumcondra
The best book I read growing up was John Steinbeck The Grapes of Wrath.
It was racy in style, his writing in short, crisp sentences, we’d never met things like that before.
The book I couldn’t put down was The Godfather by Mario Puzo. Once you got involved, you had to know what happened next. It was wonderful on the whole concept of family, and it gave the concept of family a very different meaning.
Reading is important to me because of the way it gets your imagination going.
Particularly novels, the way they take me out of where I am and start thinking about the world and start looking at different perspectives on things.
