Dublin 8 via Russia

What book do you recommend to friends?

The White Hotel by D.M. Thomas, I keep recommending it, not only to friends, but pretty much anybody. It made me appreciate people in a completely different way.

What book is battered and worn from being read over and over again?

Angela Carter's Wise Children would have been one of the most battered ones.

She wrote it when she knew she was dying of cancer, but at the same time it's extremely uplifting.

Why is reading so important?

To me, a good book has to transport you to another life. It develops empathy in a person.
