Caroline founded Tales for Tadpoles in 2014 because of her passion for children's books and illustration. It is a gift shop selling beautiful children's books, prints, stationery and related products. Caroline is a specialist in this field having worked in Hodges Figgis as the Senior Children's Bookseller for a number of years.

We generally dislike giving age ranges as in our opinion the best picture books are really for everybody, so our age recommendations here are just meant as a guide.

Where Snow Angels Go by Maggie O'Farrell. A compelling and touching story about a brave and caring little girl who encounters an extraordinary miracle. A beautiful book for a family to read together by the fire. Age 7+

The Wonderful Things You Will Be by Emily Winfield Martin. This beautiful, heartwarming book is ultimately about the love parents have for their children, growing up, and encouraging children to just be themselves. Simple text complimented by stunning illustrations, this book is a gorgeous gift for parents or child. Age 0-6

Snow and Rose by Emily Winfield Martin. An adventurous retelling of a classic fairytale that is just as exciting and magical as the original, with an emphasis on the importance of sisterhood, friends and family. 9+

Any Room For Me? by Loek Koopmans. This is a heartwarming classic tale about sharing. Beautiful illustrations, gentle rhythmic text and clever wit make this book a wonderful one to read aloud on a winter's evening. Age 2-5

Everybody's Welcome by Patricia Hegarty. A sweet and timeless story for younger children about helping others, teamwork and making friends, with fun peek-through holes and panoramic pages. Age 1-5

All Around Bustletown: Winter by Rotraut Susanne Berner. Packed full of fun details and familiar characters, this is a book that children will delight in returning to again and again to discover new details with each read, while learning about all the things we do in the winter! Age 2-6

Time for Tea: A First Book of Cookery by Shirley Hughes. A beautifully illustrated collection of easy to follow recipes and fun family adventures....a book about family time, and activities to share together! 5+

Honey for You, Honey For Me: A First Book of Nursery Rhymes by Michael Rosen, illustrated by Chris Riddell. Full of familiar rhymes and some forgotten gems, this charming collection of over thirty fun nursery rhymes is one for the family to treasure. Age 0-5

Tomten Tales by Astrid Lindgren. Two classic Scandinavian folktales featuring the traditional tomten, or Swedish house elf. This beautiful collector's edition includes The Tomten and The Tomten and the Fox. Beautifully illustrated and full of mischief! Age 4+

The Night Before Christmas by Jan Brett. A beloved Christmas poem with glorious illustrations by Jan Brett. Each page is framed with detailed, traditional-style borders giving this book a nostalgic feel that adults will enjoy too. Age 2+
